Labor Costs Are Up. Margins Are Down. Automation Is the Opportunity.

As entrepreneurs, we wear many hats. Among them, maximizing profitability while also providing a better quality of life for the people who join us in this wonderful madness called entrepreneurship.

At CubiQ, our mantra has always been clear: leverage technology to positively impact the quality of life of as many people as possible. We have been doing this by transforming logistics processes inside warehouses and distribution centers that have traditionally relied heavily on manual labor. These are highly repetitive tasks that generate physical and mental fatigue and tend to increase errors the more they are repeated.

From this perspective, I want to share an analysis I believe is critical. Between 2022 and 2025, labor costs have increased significantly: approximately 45% in Mexico, 30% in Peru, 42% in Chile, 15% in the United States, and close to 40% in Colombia. In logistics, this directly translates into increasing pressure on margins.

Industry players are trying to avoid raising prices too aggressively in order not to lose customers or cargo volume, while workers—rightfully—are seeking a better quality of life both inside and outside the workplace. This results in shorter employment cycles, higher turnover, and consequently higher costs related to onboarding, training, and operational continuity, making processes increasingly difficult to sustain.

In this context, I believe we are facing a massive opportunity for robotic automation, especially in distribution centers and cross-docking facilities. Today, there are technologies capable of performing these tasks more efficiently, with fewer people involved and, most importantly, with a significantly lower risk of errors.

I strongly believe that those who can read this moment correctly and act early will gain a competitive advantage that will be difficult to replicate. Robot costs have shown a downward trend in recent years, and at the same time, implementation has become far more accessible and scalable.

My invitation is simple: let’s embrace these challenges and turn them into opportunities through technology. In the end, this not only improves operational efficiency, but also creates a better working environment where teams feel more comfortable, supported, and motivated.

Best regards,
Camilo
